FOR THE SECOND CONSECUTIVE YEAR, BAL BHARATI PUBLIC SCHOOL, NOIDA, IS THE PROUD WINNER OF ALL INDIA LEVEL SCHOOL BASED PROJECT COMPETITION- “END CHILD LABOUR IN SUPPLY CHAIN!!” ORGANISED BY CBSE TO CREATE COMMUNITY AWARENESS ON WORLD DAY AGAINST CHILD LABOUR 2016!!
For children, being engaged in child labour means being exposed to hazardous conditions, violence and poor treatment. They are being deprived of their right to go to school, putting their health at risk, and being robbed of their childhood.
For raising awareness about this burning issue among students and community, CBSE invited all the affiliated schools to participate in this competition. The competition required entries be sent in 2 categories from the topics presented. The school decided on entry in the following categories:
i) STREET PLAY ON – ‘HUMAN RIGHTS AND SOCIAL JUSTICEFOR CHILD WORKERS’
ii) MEDIA PROJECT -‘CHILD LABOUR IN THE SUPPLY CHAIN’
In the month of August our school forged ahead to participate in this CBSE All India level competition. Groups of students from classes VII to X were engaged in different tasks ranging from collecting data and photographs of child labourers, to putting up charts, posters, messages against child labour. Students interacted with parents, community leaders, NGO’s who could further help them sustain their project.
The enthusiastic students also engaged themselves in staging Nukkad Natak, putting up display boards, holding workshops in our school for all parents, presenting ppts, visiting places such as shops, community centres, hotels in the vicinity to spread the message against child labour quite strongly. They took the initiative to speak to small children doing menial jobs like sweeping in the shops and carrying out home deliveries as well as parents of these children thus making them aware about their rights and asking them to take steps against these types of exploitation and abuse. A signature campaign was carried out in which the signature of more than 1000 people were taken. A visit to Sorkha village was conducted to donate some useful items to the children.
Students did a deep study on the Life of the Nobel Prize winner Kailash Satyarthi and discussed the same with others in self conducted workshops.
All these details along with associated photographs arranged in an aesthetic manner were sent to the CBSE in August.
It was a moment of great pride when the result was declared in the month of November. BBPS,Noida was judged as part of the top 30 winners selected from amongst all the CBSE schools in INDIA and abroad in the category of the ‘Media Project-Child Labour in Supply Chains’.
