AIIMS – MEDICAL EXPO REPORT

Date: 29.04.2016

12 students from class XII visited the medical exhibition, ‘Catalyst’, organised by the Students’ Union of the AII Indian Medical Sciences (AIIMS) on 29 April 2016. The objective of this exposition was to help students make informed career choices in the field of medicine and to provide them with a hands-on experience. The amount collected as an entrance fee, Rs. 250 per visitor, would be donated to the Angel’s Home Orphanage to facilitate the payment of school fees of the orphan children.

The exhibits were intriguing and informative as our students explored the various anatomical and pathological human specimens. They were shown some microbiological and physiological experiments too. The display of human organ specimens focused on health issues such as substance abuse, lifestyle disorders, cancers, etc.

The human brain was of special interest to our students as they observed the different parts of the brain and recalled its functions. They were able to identify the two hemispheres of the brain and got a chance to compare a normal brain with a pathologically affected one.

The students viewed how the 209 bones in our bodies move in unison, quite like well-oiled machinery, with each bone playing its part silently and efficiently.

It was an enriching and engaging experience for all our students.
